Search Engine Optimisation

What is Search Engine Optimisation?

search engine optimisationSearch Engine Optimisation (SEO) primary function is to return the most relevant web pages to a searcher’s enquiry. SEO is the art of increasing your website’s visibility and volume of traffic to your web site from search engines, for those keywords and phrases that are relevant to your business.

“Upfront Web Design” considers how search engines work and what people search for relevant to your business

Quite simply, if you don’t have a visible internet presence, you are going to miss out on a large slice of the market. When times are tough businesses can’t afford to miss out on market share.

Many small businesses are under the misconception that internet marketing is strictly for big business. This really isn’t so. If you are a small business and running at capacity and have no intention of expansion and all your business comes from word of mouth referrals and you never spend a cent on advertising – well, good luck to you and there probably isn’t any point continuing on here.

For the rest of us, an internet presence must be maintained. Some businesses may get by with listings on directories. Others want to take a more personalised or pro-active role with their promotion and create their own website.

Search Engine Optimisation needs to be a part of any online presence. “Build it and they will come” does not apply to website. You need to attract people looking for your TYPE of product or service NOT just existing customers who already know you exist (and can search for you by name).

How well a website is OPTIMISED determines the position it is displayed on search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc.

You see, not all websites are created equal. Not all website designers understand about Search Engine Optimisation. Many, websites are just not designed to ever appear in the search engines for the products and/or services they provide.

If your website is optimised better than your competitors website(s) you should display before them or at the very least alongside them.
